Frequently Asked Questions

What are your jewelry pieces made of?

Each piece is handcrafted from Polar Ice Porcelain — a premium Canadian porcelain celebrated for its pure white tone, durability, and silky smooth texture. Every piece is fired multiple times, including at least one high-temperature kiln firing above 1200°C (over 2190°F), which gives the material its strength and lasting quality. Finished with real gold luster, each piece combines durability with delicate beauty. I most often use hypoallergenic metal components, and occasionally incorporate sterling silver or titanium.

What is porcelain made of ?

Think of it as a simple recipe:
pure white clay (kaolin)
natural minerals (feldspar)
fine silica (quartz)
These ingredients are mixed together and fired at very high temperatures, where they transform into a smooth, strong, and refined material known as porcelain.

Compared to regular clay, porcelain is stronger, more compact, and has a naturally bright, clean white appearance with a subtle translucency that gives it a soft , elegant glow.

Are they fragile?

Porcelain is a strong and refined material, though like all ceramics, it can break if dropped on a hard surface. With everyday use and a bit of care, it remains durable and reliable.

It has been valued for centuries — some porcelain pieces have survived for thousands of years, and fine porcelain has long been part of everyday life and tradition.

Will the gold wear off?

The gold is a very thin layer of real gold luster. After it is applied, it is kiln-fired at low temperatures slightly above 700°C (around 1290°F), bonding it to the surface.

Like any metal, it can be affected by scratches. The key factor is friction — especially direct rubbing against the gold-decorated surface (for example, repeated contact with skin or clothing in that exact area). Simply touching the back of the piece or handling it normally will not cause wear.

Water itself does not damage the gold. With normal use and by avoiding friction on the decorated areas, the gold will remain beautiful for a long time.

What is gold luster?

Gold luster is a special ceramic material that contains real gold. It is carefully applied by hand and kiln-fired at low temperatures, where it becomes a delicate layer of real gold bonded to the glazed surface.

This technique has been used in fine ceramics for centuries, with early forms dating back to the 9th century in the Middle East. It was once used to decorate royal and luxury ceramics, and remains a symbol of craftsmanship and refinement today.

Are the metal parts hypoallergenic?

Unless otherwise specified, I use nickel-free, hypoallergenic metal components for comfort and sensitive skin. Occasionally, I incorporate sterling silver or titanium earring hooks.

As each piece is assembled by hand, I recommend gently cleaning the hooks with alcohol before first use.

How do I care for them?

To keep your porcelain jewelry beautiful, a little gentle care goes a long way.

• Try to avoid dropping it on hard surfaces. When putting earrings on near a mirror, it’s a good idea to place a soft towel underneath — just in case.

• Avoid rubbing the decorated areas. The smooth glazed surface can feel приятно and calming to touch, but repeated friction may affect the gold details over time.

• If needed, you can gently wash your jewelry with soapy hands and rinse with water. Avoid abrasive materials, rough sponges, or harsh cleaning tools.

With simple, mindful care, your pieces will stay beautiful for years.

Are your pieces factory-made or handmade?

Each piece is entirely handmade and designed by me — from the first sketch to the final details.

For a long time, I worked alone, until life introduced me to Natalia, who now often joins me in the process. Creating together brings a special energy and quiet joy to each piece.

While some designs may look familiar, no two are ever truly the same. The movement of color is as unique as a fingerprint, and porcelain itself is a living material — even identical forms can transform differently through the heat of the kiln.

Every piece carries its own subtle character, shaped by hand, time, and fire.

I also offer custom designs, thoughtfully created around your vision.

What inspires your work?

I have always felt a deep connection to the mountains. My childhood was spent in the quiet, picturesque mountains of Ukraine — I still remember their scents, their air, their silence.

When my husband and I moved to Canada, I encountered a different kind of presence. The scale of these mountains is overwhelming — not only in size, but in feeling. Standing among them, you cannot help but feel a sense of awe and a quiet reverence for the Creator.

Our first home was the mountain town of Fernie, where nature is not just around you — it holds you. During the pandemic, when so much of the world felt closed and uncertain, the mountains remained open. They became a place of stillness, grounding, and quiet strength.

At the same time, my work is shaped by people. At markets, simple conversations often turn into ideas — a request, a feeling, a small story that finds its way into what I create. And sometimes, inspiration comes from seeing something familiar and feeling the desire to reinterpret it in my own way.

Each piece I create carries a trace of these moments — shaped by nature, memory, and a quiet sense of something greater than us.

Why is the brand called HEATGUST?

The name HEATGUST was created by my husband when I was setting up my Instagram page. We felt that one strong word would capture the essence of the brand.

In our first days after arriving in Canada, we noticed a road sign that said “wind gust.” English was still new to us, and when we learned its meaning, it stayed in our memory.

At the same time, I was working with porcelain — and, being a bit impatient, I often opened the kiln while it was still hot. Each time, a strong wave of heat would rush out.

My husband began to connect these moments with the phrase “wind gust.” But in my world, everything is shaped by heat.

And so the name came naturally — HEATGUST — a moment of heat, movement, and energy, captured in every piece.

Are the earrings lightweight?

Yes, porcelain is naturally lightweight. The earrings are comfortable to wear throughout the day without feeling heavy.
